Editor's Review
Country Salvage Store in Arcola, Illinois, is a beloved gem among locals, blending a welcoming atmosphere with discount prices on brand-name groceries. Reviews reveal a family-centric vibe; established in 1969, this store has a reputation for friendly, helpful staff, many of whom are Amish, making every visit feel like a personal experience. As one loyal customer, Cindy Ridgeway, noted, "I drive over an hour to go there, and prices are good," highlighting the store's appeal beyond just its immediate community.
This store shines particularly in its bulk foods and weekly specials, providing ample opportunities for budget-conscious shoppers to stock up. Andrea Switzer praised the generous selection of meats and the additional perk of a complimentary cup of coffee from the Keurig machine. The produce section often receives accolades for its freshness, with some items sourced locally.
However, not everything is perfect. Some reviewers, like The Great Satan, mention that the savings arenβt always substantial compared to regular grocery stores, cautioning to "watch prices and expiration dates." Additionally, the selection of fresh meat can feel limited. Still, the overall sentiment is that Country Salvage Store offers great value, especially for those willing to hunt for deals on dented cans and day-old breads.

Been going here for years. Absolutely love this place. As large as a regular grocery store. Lots of meats, for sure. Free cup of coffee at their Keurig machine. Clean restrooms. Ample parking. Nice and helpful Amish staff. Great deals on frozen food....
I like this place. Like anywhere else you have to watch prices and expiration dates. They tend to have really good produce some local some not and prices on perishables are usually pretty decent. No deals on eggs or milk . Fresh meat choices limite...
Ppl are very nice and helpful store is clean.. I drive over and hour to go there and prices are good
Not bad, but also not much cheaper if at all over a normal grocery store. Yes, there are a few expired deals, but it's mostly new stock.
I absolutely love this store for stocking up on grocery items at a discount! Not to mention how extremely friendly the staff are and very helpful. They also have complementary coffee keurig individuals which was nice pick me up!
