Editor's Review
River Discount in St. Rose, LA, has built quite the reputation over the years. With a solid 4.1 out of 5 rating from 119 reviews, it's clear that many locals appreciate what this grocery store offers. Customers rave about the fried chicken, with Greg Picadash declaring it the "best fried chicken, hands down." But that’s not all; Ms. Whit highlights their shrimp po'boys, noting that the shrimp is fried just right and praises the generous portions of mayo.
However, not all reviews sing praises. Some customers have reported less-than-stellar experiences. As Sara Ferrera pointed out, her shrimp po'boy had "nasty" issues with the shrimp and rude service. It seems cleanliness is a recurring concern, so it’s worth keeping that in mind.
Overall, River Discount stands out for its affordable prices, particularly for alcohol and meat packs. The locals appreciate the fresh produce and the in-house prepared food that draws them back again and again. Just be prepared for possible inconsistencies in service and product quality.

I wonder do they cook breakfast on weekend ??
Poop line ( it's nasty no matter if you believe it's poop or not) in the shrimp, unclean food, mealy tomatoes and weird texture on pickles on the shrimp po boy. Lady was really rude and said I didn't need to tell her about her food.
Great little place. It's small for a grocery store, so selection is limited, but if you aren't "brand picky" you can find the basics and more. The produce is fresh and fairly priced. The meat is good quality and as fairly priced as any other store ...
