Editor's Review
With a commendable overall rating of 4.1 out of 5 based on 24 reviews, Super Saver Grocery in Washington, D.C. emerges as a noteworthy neighborhood gem. Contrary to popular belief that corner stores lack quality, this facility excels in customer service and product variety. One reviewer, David Cox, expressed his satisfaction by stating, "Love having this neighborhood store within walking distance. Beer, Wine, Snacks & much more." The focus on community is evident, especially through the no-nonsense approach of the owner, affectionately known as "Mama."
Customer feedback highlights unique offerings, such as freshly roasted Ethiopian coffee beans and an impressive selection of wines and beers. As Martin Bullock remarked, they have "the best on upper 14th." However, it's not all smooth sailing; some reviews mention issues with theft, leading to a recent shift to a doorbell-only entry policy. Jeb Bishop reported that they implemented this change due to "the shameless amount of shoplifting and theft, not to mention robberies." Despite these challenges, the store remains a beloved staple in the neighborhood.
Overall, Super Saver Grocery stands out for its strong community ties and personalized service, making it a reliable choice for locals looking to grab essentials or specialty items. As Mae Mae Optimistic noted, the willingness to assist customers with special requests speaks volumes about their commitment. This place is a shining example of how a small business can foster loyalty and trust.

Best place in the neighborhood to pick up one or two things you might need. They roast Ethiopian coffee beans and sell them here as well. They also have a respectable wine and beer collection -- definitely the best on upper 14th. Open late, too.
Very convenient. "Mama" behind the counter is kind and hardworking. If you ask, you'll learn that they moved to a doorbell-only policy because of the shameless amount of shoplifting and theft, not to mention robberies, they are subjected to.
I called today asking for yeast. They donβt have any for sale but willing to give what they have personally. WOW AMAZING! I didnβt go because they are 25 minutes away but customer service is Wow just to rescue my baking. THANK YOU MADAM!
